• Lymphoproliferative Effect of P-MAPA on Splenic Cells
The effect of P-MAPA on the splenic cells lymphoproliferation from Balb/c mice was studied.
indicated clearly that 0.1 ug of P-MAPA produced a lymphoproliferative effect 33.3 fold greater than that of the control which is 63% of the capability of 1 ug Concanavalin A, used as a representative of a mitogenic positive effect.
• Plaques Forming in Splenic Cells Induced by P-MAPA.
Groups of 5 mice (in total of 40 mice) were sacrificed after inoculation with P-MAPA after different periods. In mice treated with 1.7 ug/animal (80 ug/kg), plaque forming cells were detected gradually in splenic cells of all 5 animals.
the control cases after 96 h, values of 216 ± 8 and 1,105 ± 60 for IgM and IgG, respectively, were obtained.
On the other hand, 230 ± 15 and 2,032 ± 95 for the same immunoglobulins were obtained after P-MAPA was applied. These results, although still preliminary, are indicative that P-M.A.P.A.. acts on the immune system.
